St. Gabriel the Archangel
The angel of the Annunciation, God's messenger for the news that changes everything.
Who they were
Gabriel appears by name in Scripture at the hinge points: interpreting the visions of Daniel, announcing the Baptist's birth to a Zechariah who could not believe it, and standing in a room in Nazareth with the words the rosary repeats more than any others, Hail, full of grace. Every Hail Mary opens with Gabriel's own sentence, which makes him in a real sense the most quoted messenger in human history. The Church honours the three named archangels together on the 29th of September. Gabriel's portfolio is the word faithfully delivered: the announcement made, the fear answered, since Do not be afraid precedes his news, and the message that requires an answer.
Why people turn to St. Gabriel the Archangel
Everyone whose work is carrying words, including journalists, broadcasters, postal and telecom workers and translators, by the Church's own designation. And, fittingly, couples waiting on big news: a pregnancy, a diagnosis, an answer.
How to ask their intercession
Before you have to deliver hard news, ask his prayers to say it truly and gently. His openings are the model.
